What You Need In Your Car This Winter
Minnesota winters can be brutal!
Temperatures drop below zero, roads become an ice rink, we have these wonderful events called snow storms, and sometimes our vehicles like to cause us problems. Our vehicles like to stop working on our way home from work when it is -4 degrees outside. We might find ourselves in a ditch waiting for a tow truck to show up in a hour. I think you get the idea! So what should you have in your car in case of an emergency? Well we are going to answer that for you!
FOOD AND WATER
Always have food and water in your vehicle! Pack snacks that will provide you with energy. For example, an energy or protein bar would do.
PAIR OF GLOVES
We aren't talking about those wimpy mittens that are cute, or are your favorite pair. You should have a good pair of gloves that will actually keep your hands warm in your car.
A WINTER HAT
To keep your head and ears toasty.
You may not be properly dressed for the specific weather conditions ,or you could be running low on fuel. With that being said, you might not able to keep your vehicle on. The blanket will keep you warm if this situation arises.
Because it is never fun to be in a ditch! Tow straps are good to have on hand in case a good samaritan comes along willing to help you pull your car out.
FIRST AID KIT WITH A POCKET KNIFE
This is good to have in your car regardless of the season.
It is always worth a shot to see if you can dig your way out of the situation!
CAT LITTER, ROAD SALT, OR SAND
Provides traction to the road.
We believe a pair of jumper cables should be in your car regardless of season! Life is always unpredictable.
WINDSHIELD SCRAPPER WITH SMALL BROOM
I think this one is self explanatory fellow Minnesotans.
FLASHLIGHT WITH EXTRA BATTERIES
Great for every season. BUT daylight does not last long in winter, so we would say this one is a must!
EMERGENCEY FLARES, REFLECTORS, AND A WHISTLE
To draw attention for help.
Good for all seasons. You will need a tire iron to be able to change a tire of needed.
