ADULT TRAINING APPLICATION

We accept only a very limited number of adult students each year

Completing the Adult Training Form does NOT guarantee acceptance into our Adult Behind-the-Wheel Training Program.

Once you submit the form, we will review the information you provided, including your driving experience, number of practice hours, previous road-test attempts, and the type of training you are looking for.

After reviewing your submission, we will determine whether we are able to take you on as an adult student and whether our program is appropriate for your current driving experience and training needs.

If we are able to accept you into our program, we will contact you via email with the next steps for scheduling.

Please read all of the information below before submitting your form.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST LESSON

Our adult Behind-the-Wheel program is not a learn-to-drive-from-scratch program.

Before training with us, you should already be comfortable operating a vehicle and have significant driving experience with another licensed adult.

Our program requires all adult students to have:

• A valid Minnesota instruction permit

• At least 50 hours of actual driving practice before their first lesson

• Regular driving practice outside of driving school

• The ability to safely operate a vehicle with limited instructor assistance

Our instructors are here to evaluate and critique your driving, identify problem areas, correct driving habits, teach proper techniques, and help prepare you for the Minnesota road test.

The few hours you spend with one of our instructors are NOT a replacement for regular driving practice at home.

PLEASE BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR DRIVING EXPERIENCE

When completing your Adult Training Form, please be truthful about the number of hours you have actually spent behind the wheel.

We require at least 50 hours of driving practice for a reason. You need to already be comfortable safely operating a vehicle before getting into the car with one of our instructors.

Our instructors have many years of experience working with new drivers. It becomes apparent very quickly when a student does not have the driving experience they reported.

If your instructor determines that:

• You do not appear to have the required driving experience

• You cannot safely control or operate the vehicle

• Your driving creates an unsafe situation for you, your instructor, or others on the road

• The instructor does not feel it is safe to continue

YOUR LESSON WILL BE ENDED.

For everyone's safety, your instructor may return you to the driving school or another appropriate location and discontinue the lesson.

You will NOT receive a refund if a lesson is ended because you were not adequately prepared or because the instructor determines that continuing would be unsafe.

Please do not tell us that you have 50, 75, or 100 hours of driving experience simply to qualify for our program if you have not actually completed those hours.

Do your part before we do ours.

Practice. Drive regularly. Get your hours in.

We ask you to put in this time before scheduling with us so that your Behind-the-Wheel lesson can be spent improving your driving and preparing you for the road test — not teaching the basic operation of a vehicle.

Your instructor's job is to help fine-tune your driving. Your job is to come prepared.

If you aren't at 50 hours yet, that's okay! Keep practicing and contact us when you are.

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

This is extremely important for our adult students.

Minnesota road-test data shows that adults have a much harder time passing the road test than 16-year-old drivers. Approximately 45% of drivers ages 18–20 failed their road test, and failure rates for drivers 18+ were reported at roughly double the rate of 16-year-old drivers.

Why the difference?

Teen drivers typically go through a structured Driver's Education program and spend months practicing before taking their road test. Adults can enter the licensing process without having completed that same structured training and practice.

Experience behind the wheel matters.

We strongly encourage our adult students to DRIVE DAILY whenever possible. Practice in different traffic conditions, on different roads, at intersections, parking, changing lanes, checking blind spots, controlling speed, and making safe driving decisions without assistance.

Do not make your lessons with us your only driving time.

A 2-hour Behind-the-Wheel lesson cannot replace 20, 50, or 100 hours of real-world driving experience.

The more you practice outside of driving school, the more beneficial your lessons with us will be — and the better prepared you will be when it's time to take your road test.

HAVE YOU FAILED THE ROAD TEST 3+ TIMES?

Multiple unsuccessful road tests are a strong indication that additional driving experience and practice are needed!!!!

A few Behind-the-Wheel lessons with us will NOT be enough on their own.

You need to be driving regularly with another licensed adult and working on the skills you are struggling with between your lessons with us and before attempting another road test.

LESSON + ROAD TEST

If you are completing a Lesson + Road Test with us, your instructor will evaluate your driving, work with you on areas that need improvement, and help prepare you for the road test.

Please understand that acceptance into our program and completing lessons with us does NOT guarantee that you will pass your road test.

PAYMENT & CANCELLATION POLICY

Payment in full is required when your appointment is scheduled.

ALL PAYMENTS ARE FINAL.

Payments are:

• NON-REFUNDABLE

• NON-TRANSFERABLE

We require at least 2 business days' notice if you are unable to attend your scheduled Behind-the-Wheel lesson.

The non-refundable policy also applies if an instructor ends a lesson for safety reasons or determines that the student does not have the driving experience represented on their Adult Training Form.
