Here are some of our most frequently asked questions that may help you even after hours.
💻 ZOOM STUDENTS
We will NOT email out zoom links after day 1 of class. They will be posted in your Flexi dashboard. In your original confirmation email from us.. It will explain how to get the code. IN PERSON STUDENTS
There is NO in-person class on Fridays.
Your student will log into their FlexiQuiz Dashboard to complete Friday’s class.
Once logged in, they will find:
1. The day’s “Task List”
2. The day’s Teaching Video
MAKE UP DAYS FOR CLASS
NEED A MAKE-UP DAY? NO PROBLEM!
Simply scan the QR code on the front of your folder that was provided on the first day of class.
This will take you directly to our Make-Up Day Form.
⚠️ It is the STUDENT’S responsibility to fill out and submit the Make-Up Day Form.
By law, students can only complete 3 hours of Driver’s Ed classroom instruction per day.
Because of this, if your student misses a day of class, they cannot complete their regular 3 hours AND an additional 3-hour make-up day on the same day.
Once the Make-Up Day Form is submitted, your student will receive the information needed to complete their missed day.
✅ Please submit the form as soon as you know a class day will be missed so your student can stay on track!

The cost of the permit test is $10.00. If you are wanting to do extra review the cost for that is $10.00. If you are doing the review before the test... please still come in at your scheduled time
We offer the permit test daily at our main location in Forest Lake. At our other locations in the High Schools, we only offer it on the last day of an in person class. We do NOT accept walk-ins for this option you will need to make an appointment.You can set up a permit test at this linkBLUE CARD
As of April 1st 2025 we will now upload your students blue card to the D.M.V webpage once all 10 days are completed and last day payment has been paid.IMPORTANT: Do not go to the DMV for testing until you've received an email from us confirming:

As of April 1st 2025 we will now upload your students white card to the D.M.V webpage. Please allow up to 5 business days from your last lesson for us to upload your white card. If you are doing a 3rd lesson and road test with us we will upload your white card the same day as your test.FAILED ROAD TEST

STICK TO THE PLAN..
If you have set up a payment plan with us, please make sure you stick to the agreed-upon payment dates.
If you schedule a Behind-the-Wheel lesson and have a payment due, we will send you a payment reminder before the lesson.
💳 Payment MUST be made before your student’s scheduled Behind-the-Wheel lesson.
If payment has not been received by the time of the lesson:
❌ The Behind-the-Wheel lesson will be canceled
❌ Your student will not be able to drive
💲 A missed lesson fee will be added and must be paid before the next lesson
We DO NOT schedule months in advance for regular BTW’s & permit tests.The following month’s calendar will always be released on the second Wednesday of every month.CANCELING A LESSON
If you need to cancel a Behind-the-Wheel lesson or permit test, please use the confirmation email you received when the appointment was originally scheduled.
The confirmation was sent to the email address entered at sign-up.

The address on your confirmation email is where we will pick you up and drop you off. The confirmation email was sent to the email you provided at the BTW sign up.WHAT DO YOU NEED ON YOUR B.T.W LESSON?
A valid permit is required for all Behind-the-Wheel lessons.
Permits do expire, so please double-check before your lesson.
❌ We cannot complete a lesson if the student does not have their permit physically with them.
📸 Pictures of permits are NOT accepted.
If you still have your classroom folder, please bring it!
We’re happy to review the 50-hour driving log and provide additional handouts to help keep everything organized.
Any adult may drop off a student for a BTW lesson — a parent does not need to be present.📍Can you utilize any BTW location?
YES, You can use Forest lake for one lesson and North Branch for the next. Whatever works for you, works for us :) Can you set up more than 1 BTW a month?
NO, Please remember students are only allowed ONE Behind-the-Wheel (BTW) lesson per month on the calendar.
Any additional BTW lessons scheduled beyond the allowed one per month will be automatically canceled.
If the student is under 18 and two BTW lessons are scheduled in the same month, the second lesson will be automatically canceled.
Before scheduling the FIRST BTW lesson, students are required to complete 10 hours of drive time with a parent/guardian.
PARENT / STUDENT QUIZFrom the time of classroom sign up – the last day of class. We need BOTH parents and students to sit down and take this “Quiz”.It will take no more than 10-15 minutes.We are hopeful this will clear up any confusion and repeat questions about the Driver’s Ed process.PERMIT EXAM
Permit Test Requirements (After Classroom Completion)
Once a student has completed the 30 hours of classroom instruction, they must take their Permit Test.
Please bring ALL 5 items listed below to the testing location:
Blue Slip
📌 As of 04/01/25, Blue Slips are uploaded directly to the D.M.V — physical cards are no longer issued.
Social Security Card
(Physical card required)
Current School ID (Grades 7–12)
Must include the student’s name & photo
Birth Certificate
⚠️ Must be the original certificate — photocopies are NOT accepted
A parent or legal guardian is NOT required to attend the permit test at our office.
However, after your student passes the permit test, a parent or legal guardian must accompany them to the DMV/DVS to sign the permit application before the instruction permit can be issued.Scheduling the Permit Test:
There are a few options available for scheduling a permit test. 1. Take the Permit test at our office for $10.00. option study and review before taking the Permit test. 1st BTW Lesson Timing
The first Behind-the-Wheel lesson should be scheduled after at least ONE month of practice driving.
Once a student has a valid permit, we strongly recommend they drive with a parent/guardian for a few weeks before scheduling their first BTW lesson. This helps reduce nerves so the student can focus on rules of the road and driving techniques during their lesson.
Lesson Structure & Scheduling
• Each student receives 3 private, one-on-one BTW lessons
• Each lesson is 2 hours long
• Lessons must be spaced out — one lesson per calendar month
• Please schedule only ONE lesson at a time
📍 Pickup Locations
We will pick students up from one of our three locations or from school.
Practice Is Essential
The only way to become a safe driver is by driving.
Minnesota law requires a minimum of 50 logged practice hours with a parent/guardian, including:
🌙 15 hours of nighttime driving
Planning Ahead
⚠️ Do NOT wait until the last minute to schedule BTW lessons.
Please plan ahead around sports, activities, and school schedules so your student can take their road test as soon as they’re eligible.
Contract & Permit Requirements
• Your child’s contract with Right Away Driving School is valid for 2 years
• A VALID instruction permit must be physically present at every lesson
❌ Cancellation & Missed Lesson Policy
• A $50 cancellation fee will be charged if:
– The student does not have a valid permit at the lesson
– A lesson is canceled with less than 48 business hours’ notice
• If the student is sick, we require at least 5 hours’ notice to avoid a missed-lesson fee
Completion & Road Test Info
Once all three BTW lessons are completed:
We will upload your student’s completion card to the D.M.V website
⏳ Please allow up to 5 business days for processing
The completion card is required at the testing station for the road test
Optional Road Test Service
We can schedule and transport your student to the road test in our Driver’s Ed vehicle immediately after the 3rd BTW lesson.

This is a free class offered to parents to gain knowledge of the process, receive tips and tricks from licensed instructors and to learn about the up-to-date rules of the road. Attending the Parent class will also take 10 hours off the required 50 hours of supervised driving time. Please note- this is not a required class.
