How to - 90° Park & Set up your Cones!
90° Backing Parking
Turn on your right blinker approximately 100 feet before the parking space.
Position your vehicle approximately 5 feet away from the cones and 3–4 feet past the last cone. Stop.
Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and back slowly into the space until your vehicle is perpendicular to the curb.
Straighten the steering wheel and continue backing slowly until your vehicle is completely inside the cones. If needed, one adjustment is allowed to reposition the vehicle.
Put the vehicle in Park.
Leaving the Parking Space
Check traffic and turn on your right blinker.
Pull forward approximately 4 feet while checking for traffic.
Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and slowly pull out, entering the traffic lane safely.
Final Check
Vehicle is completely inside the parking space.
Vehicle is reasonably centered between the cones.
Look over both shoulders and check mirrors before backing and before entering traffic.
Use your turn signal when leaving the parking space.
